Czech Companies Showcase Advanced Semiconductor Technologies in Kyushu

Czech companies presented their technologies at Kyushu Semiconductor Industry Exhibition 2026 in Fukuoka, one of Japan’s fastest-growing semiconductor industry events.

On 30 September and 1 October, the third edition of Kyushu Semiconductor Industry Exhibition 2026 took place in Fukuoka, Japan, once again featuring Czech participation. In just a few years, the event has established itself as the leading semiconductor industry gathering in the Kyushu region, which continues to strengthen its position as one of Japan's key semiconductor hubs thanks to major investments in chip manufacturing.

This year's exhibition brought together 543 exhibitors, nearly 150 more than in the previous edition. Reflecting the event's rapid growth, the organisers have already announced plans to expand into the adjacent convention centre in the coming years. While exhibitor numbers continued to rise, attendance was somewhat lower than expected. The two-day event attracted 10,554 professional visitors, approximately 3,000 fewer than in 2025. One contributing factor may have been the powerful earthquake that struck Kumamoto Prefecture in July. As the heart of Japan's semiconductor industry, Kumamoto is home to many companies that are still recovering from the disaster and gradually restoring full operations at their production facilities and offices.

The joint Czech pavilion, organised by the CzechTrade office in Japan, featured SVCS Process Innovation, TESCAN GROUP, and UNITES Systems. Located in Hall B alongside suppliers of semiconductor production technologies, prefectural organisations, and industry associations, the Czech stand formed part of an increasingly international exhibition. Companies from South Korea and Taiwan once again maintained a strong presence, while national pavilions from India and Switzerland participated for the first time, underlining Kyushu's growing importance as a destination for international companies seeking business and technology partnerships in Japan.

SVCS Process Innovation returned to the exhibition with its portfolio of semiconductor process equipment, including diffusion furnaces, while UNITES Systems once again presented its testing and measurement solutions for semiconductor applications. TESCAN GROUP, one of Europe's leading manufacturers of electron microscopes and analytical instruments, made its debut at the joint Czech stand. The company showcased technologies used in semiconductor research, development, and failure analysis, attracting additional attention following its acquisition by Japanese technology company Shimadzu Corporation, completed earlier this year.

Despite the decline in visitor numbers, Kyushu Semiconductor Industry Exhibition continues to rank among Japan's most important semiconductor trade events and offers valuable opportunities for Czech companies supplying technologies and equipment to the sector. Preparations for the next joint Czech participation, scheduled for 29-30 September 2027, are already underway.
