Czech Optics and Photonics Showcased at OPIE 2025 in Japan

With the aim of expanding into the Japanese market and reinforcing their current business ties, representatives of Czech companies, research institutions, and the Czech Optical Cluster took part in this prestigious trade fair in collaboration with the CzechTrade agency.

Optics and photonics play a crucial role in many high-tech sectors, including precision machinery manufacturing, electron microscopy, and medical technology. The Japanese market offers Czech companies not only technologically advanced partners but also customers with strong purchasing power and a keen interest in innovation. Moreover, the traditionally strong connection between academic research and industrial practice in Japan creates an ideal environment for collaboration on cutting-edge projects.

The OPIE (OPTICS & PHOTONICS International Exhibition) trade fair has a long-standing tradition as the most important specialized exhibition in the field. Thanks to its link with the concurrently held international academic conference OPIC, the event offers participants a unique opportunity to meet not only business representatives and suppliers of optical technologies but also leading experts from prestigious universities and research institutions.

This year’s edition, held from April 23 to 25, welcomed 490 companies, research centers, and universities. According to the organizers, more than 15,600 visitors attended the event at the Pacifico Yokohama exhibition center near Tokyo.

As part of the Czech national stand, companies CRYTUR, Narran, and SQS Fiber Optics presented their products. Research centers CEITEC and HiLASE, together with the Institute of Scientific Instruments of the Czech Academy of Sciences, showcased their research capabilities and opportunities for collaboration to the Japanese professional audience. The Czech participation was further supported by the Czech Optical Cluster, which brings together more than 40 entities active in optics and related fields.

Positive feedback and overall satisfaction with the event suggest that Czech optics and photonics have not made their last appearance in Yokohama.
