Strong growth in hybrid and electric vehicle output is reshaping the Czech automotive sector and boosting its performance in 2026.
The Czech automotive industry is experiencing strong growth driven by the rising share of electrified vehicles in production. In the first months of 2026, more than 525,000 passenger cars were produced in the country, representing a year-on-year increase of around 7%. Electrified vehicles already accounted for roughly 41% of total output, including more than 110,000 hybrid cars, around 87,000 battery-electric vehicles, and nearly 18,000 plug-in hybrids. This rapid expansion highlights the sector’s ability to adapt to changing market demand and tightening emissions regulations.
The transition is evident across all major manufacturers operating in the Czech Republic. Škoda Auto produced over 353,000 vehicles in the early months of the year, up by nearly 12%, with a significant share consisting of electrified models. At Hyundai’s Nošovice plant, electrified vehicles accounted for more than 48% of total production despite an overall decline in volume. Toyota’s Kolín facility continues to specialise in hybrid technology, producing more than 82,000 vehicles and recording steady year-on-year growth. Together, these figures demonstrate how deeply electrification is embedded in domestic production.
Overall, the sector continues to show resilience and steady expansion. Between January and May 2026, total car production reached nearly 640,000 units, up 4.7% compared to the previous year. Electrified vehicles accounted for 40.4% of this output, confirming a sustained upward trend. Growing demand, particularly for hybrid models in Europe, combined with ongoing investments in innovation and supply chains, is expected to further strengthen the Czech Republic’s position as a key hub for advanced automotive production.
