Explore Medieval Bohemia in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

The second installment of the historical video game Kingdom Come: Deliverance, developed by the Czech studio Warhorse, was released globally this Tuesday.

Set in the early 15th century, the game is available on PC and the latest PlayStation and Xbox consoles. The first installment, released in 2018, became one of the best-selling Czech video games in history, and its creators expect the sequel to surpass its predecessor in sales.

The central character is once again Henry, the son of a blacksmith from Skalitz, who finds himself caught up in the pre-Hussite turmoil in the Lands of the Bohemian Crown during the political struggle between King Wenceslas IV and his brother Sigismund. Players will once again explore the medieval landscape, this time in Bohemian Paradise, Kutná Hora, and its surroundings. New features include the ability to use crossbows and early firearms in combat.

Upon its release, the first game received mixed reactions from some members of the gaming community, as it faced several technical issues that required subsequent updates and fixes. However, it still received mostly positive reviews worldwide and, according to the latest data, has sold approximately eight million copies. Revenue from the first installment’s sales covered the development costs of its sequel.

The sequel is already a global bestseller, dominating Steam charts for 23 consecutive weeks in Czechia and, shortly after its release, reaching the top spot in global rankings on the most popular PC game marketplace. According to OpenCritic, the game debuted with an impressive 89 Metascore from 93 reviews worldwide.
