Government Bans Sales of Seven More Psychoactive Substances

The Czech government has approved a ban on seven further psychoactive substances similar to HHC and THCP and their derivatives.

The ban applies to substances labeled HHCP, HHCH, HHCB, HHC-C8, THCH, THCB, and THC-C8, as well as esters or ethers derived from them. The authors of the law believe this would cover a relatively large number of substances with psychoactive effects that have started to emerge on the market in recent years. This step follows a ban on three other psychoactive substances—HHC, HHC-O, and THCP—which were prohibited earlier this year in response to cases of children being hospitalized after consuming sweets containing them.

The mentioned substances will be banned until the end of this year, when a new amendment introducing a category of psychomodulatory substances with regulated sales is expected to come into force. However, with ongoing assessments of the effects and harmfulness of these substances, there is a possibility that some of them may be excluded from this category.
