Number of New Companies in the Czech Republic Hits Record High

The number of new businesses in the Czech Republic has risen sharply in 2025, highlighting strong entrepreneurial confidence despite an uncertain economic climate.

The total number of registered companies in the country has now surpassed 589,000, up from 576,000 a year earlier. This steady growth occurs against a backdrop of European uncertainty, including geopolitical tensions in Europe and the Middle East, sluggish economic performance in Germany, and an increasingly competitive domestic market.

“The increase in new company formations illustrates the optimism of Czech entrepreneurs and their determination to pursue their own ventures,” said Kateřina Klosová, CEO of Dun & Bradstreet Czech Republic. “They are succeeding despite geopolitical instability, a stagnating German economy, labor shortages, and strong competition.”

The current upswing continues the positive trend from 2024, when nearly 31,000 businesses were launched (the third-highest number in the past 20 years). If this year’s pace continues, Klosová expects 2025 could set a new record for business creation. The ongoing rise in new companies underscores a resilient entrepreneurial culture in the Czech Republic, one that appears undeterred by external pressures and continues to see opportunity where others might see risk.
