Unemployment in the Czech Republic has climbed for the fourth consecutive month, reaching 4.4% in February—the highest level since April 2017. The number of job seekers rose by 5,707 from January, totaling 326,223. Despite this trend, Labor Office Director Daniel Krištof remains optimistic, citing upcoming seasonal work as a mitigating factor, particularly for male workers. Job vacancies have also increased by over 5%, offering some relief.

Regional disparities persist, with Prague maintaining a low 2.9% unemployment rate, while the Ústí region struggles at 6.6%. Demand remains high for construction workers, warehouse staff, and truck drivers, particularly in Prague and Central Bohemia. Experts link rising unemployment to seasonal patterns and weaker industrial performance, with analysts predicting a potential year-end rate of 4.5%, signaling further economic hurdles ahead.
