The state visit of Czech President Petr Pavel to Estonia on 27–28 May 2026 highlighted the strong and growing partnership between the Czech Republic and Estonia in security, innovation, and economic cooperation.
A large Czech business delegation accompanied the President, with the programme strongly focused on defence and cybersecurity. In Tallinn, Czech companies visited Tehnopol, Estonia’s leading science and technology park, where they learned more about innovation programmes, startup support, and opportunities connected to the NATO DIANA accelerator initiative.
The delegation also attended a Czech-Estonian Business Forum focused on defence and cybersecurity, bringing together companies, institutions, and government representatives from both countries. Discussions emphasized the importance of trusted partnerships, European defence cooperation and cybersecurity resilience. Both President Petr Pavel and Estonian President Alar Karis highlighted the strong potential for deeper bilateral cooperation.
A key outcome of the forum was the signing of a memorandum between Colt CZ Group and Frankenburg Technologies on cooperation in counter-drone technologies, aimed at strengthening European defence capabilities.
Cybersecurity remained one of the central themes of the visit. President Pavel also addressed the CyCon conference, calling for stronger international coordination against cyber threats. In Tartu, one part of the Czech delegation visited the University of Tartu’s Delta Centre, where Czech and Estonian partners presented joint cybersecurity and research projects. A new cooperation memorandum between Masaryk University and the University of Tartu further strengthened academic collaboration in biology and cybersecurity. The defence-oriented group visited the company Metec, which manufactures metal components primarily for the automotive and defence industries, and later participated in networking with Estonian defence companies.
President Petr Pavel also visited Tallinn's main railway station to support Czech export, highlighting the successful deployment of 16 electric train units and new hybrid trolleybuses manufactured by Škoda Group.
Overall, the programme demonstrated the depth of Czech-Estonian cooperation across political, economic, security, and academic sectors.
