Czech Retail Sales Accelerate in July

Retail sales in Czechia increased by 4.8% year on year in July 2026, with online shopping, clothing and healthcare products among the main drivers of growth.

Excluding sales and repairs of motor vehicles, Czech retail revenues increased by 4.8% compared with July 2025. Growth accelerated from 3.4% in June, while sales rose by 0.6% month on month, according to data published by the Czech Statistical Office.

Sales of non-food products increased by 6.6% year on year, while food sales rose by 2.7%. Fuel retailers recorded growth of 4%. Sales and repairs of motor vehicles increased by 0.5% compared with the previous year and by 0.1% from the preceding month.

Online and mail-order retailers made the largest contribution to overall growth, with their sales increasing by 12.4%. Among specialised stores, clothing and footwear sales rose by 8.8%, while pharmaceutical and medical goods recorded growth of 7.8%. Household products were the only category to report a decline.

The figures suggest that Czech consumer demand remains solid, supported in part by rising real wages. They also confirm the growing importance of digital sales channels in a market where consumers are accustomed to comparing products and purchasing across borders within the European Union.

For Moroccan exporters, the Czech market may offer opportunities in clothing, value-added food products, natural cosmetics and selected consumer goods. A market-entry strategy combining a local importer, specialised distribution and online sales can provide access not only to Czech consumers, but also to the wider Central European region.
