A record increase of LPG-powered cars in the last year in the Czech Republic, with Dacia Jogger leading the sales

In 2024, the Czech Republic saw a record increase in the number of newly registered vehicles powered by liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

A total of 4 589 such vehicles were registered, representing a year-on-year growth of 31 %. LPG-powered cars accounted for 2 % of all newly registered vehicles.

Dacia was the most frequently registered, selling 3 859 LPG-powered cars in the Czech Republic, securing an 84 % market share. Renault ranked second with 687 vehicles, while Dodge came in third with 22 registrations.

Among specific models, the Dacia Jogger led the sales, recording 1 452 new registrations. The next two spots were also occupied by Dacia models – the Duster with 1 336 registrations and the Sandero with 1 071 vehicles. According to Lukáš Kadula from the Transport Research Centre, LPG models accounted for 41 % of Dacia’s total sales. 

Not only that, but the number of LPG-powered commercial vehicles also increased. A total of 103 were registered, reflecting a nearly 54 % year-on-year growth. The largest share belonged to the American brand RAM, with 53 vehicles registered, followed by the Italian manufacturer Piaggio, which recorded 36 registrations. The third position was shared by Dodge and UAZ, each with six vehicles. 

Overall, new car sales in the Czech Republic rose by 4,6 % last year, reaching 231 600 registrations. Škoda remained the best-selling brand, with 78 097 cars sold, marking a 0,8 % increase. Hyundai ranked second with 20 309 vehicles sold (+1,2 %), while Toyota secured third place with 18 994 sales, reflecting a 9 % increase. These figures were published by the Association of Car Importers.
