In 2024, the Czech truck manufacturer Tatra Trucks sold 1 548 vehicles, marking an increase of 97 units compared to 2023.
The defence sector accounted for the largest share of production, with over 600 vehicles delivered, according to company spokesperson Andrej Čírtek. The year-over-year sales growth reached 6,7%, while production saw an increase of nearly 10%.
“The defence sector remained the primary market for Tatra in 2024, with over 600 vehicles sold. More than 400 trucks were delivered to customers in civilian industries such as construction, mining, and agriculture, while over 200 units were supplied to firefighting and emergency response services,” said Tatra’s CEO, Kristijan Fiket.
According to Fiket, the most significant increase in sales compared to 2023 was recorded in civilian deliveries. However, he emphasized that due to global geopolitical factors and contracts with the Czech Army, defence-related projects remain Tatra’s most significant production segment. This is further reinforced by collaborations with partner companies from Czechoslovak Group (CSG), the majority shareholder of Tatra.
Beyond the domestic market, the company exported a significant number of vehicles to the Netherlands, Australia, India, Germany, Austria, and Slovakia. “In the military vehicle and specialized chassis segment, Tatra’s deliveries were primarily focused on logistics trucks and chassis for the Czech Army, based on previous agreements. Additionally, the Ministry of Defence signed a framework contract last year for more than 800 additional Tatra vehicles,” Čírtek noted.
