Czechia as a technological leader in AI, government approved the National AI Strategy 2030

The goal is to enhance AI utilisation across business, education, and public services, with a focus on development up to 2030.

The government has approved the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy of the Czech Republic 2030 (NAIS), developed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MIT). This strategy aims to harness AI's potential to benefit the Czech economy and society, setting priorities and goals until 2030 across seven key areas.

“Artificial intelligence represents a huge potential for our economy and society and can significantly improve our quality of life. In order to use this potential to the maximum for the benefit of the Czech Republic, we have prepared the updated National Artificial Intelligence Strategy of the Czech Republic 2030,” says Minister of Industry and Trade Jozef Síkela. “According to our vision, the Czech Republic should be not only a user but also a creator of advanced artificial intelligence technologies. The strategy will help us achieve this goal and ensure that the benefits of AI are used to the benefit of society as a whole.”

“The updated AI strategy reflects the latest technological trends and the needs of Czech society. It focuses on key areas of AI use, such as strengthening research, improving education, developing digital skills, ensuring ethical and security aspects, supporting innovation in business, and streamlining public administration and services,” says Senior Director for Digitization and Innovation Petr Očko.

The strategy, developed in collaboration with public and private sectors, addresses main areas:

1. Research, Development, and Innovation: Strengthening research infrastructure and international cooperation.

2. Education and Professional Training: Transforming education with AI tools and improving teacher training.

3. Skills and Labor Market Impacts: Developing digital skills and preventing digital exclusion.

4. Ethical and Legal Aspects: Ensuring effective legislation and ethical AI use.

5. Security Aspects: Protecting against cyber attacks and ensuring AI system security.

6.  Industry and Business: Supporting AI start-ups and adoption in small and medium-sized enterprises.

7. Public Administration and Services: Enhancing public services and administration through AI.

The strategy includes a multi-year action plan with approximately 19 billion CZK in project investments, updated annually to adapt to changes.
