Prague Among Top 10 Global Congress Destinations

Prague hosted nearly 5,000 annual events and excellent facilities make Czech capital a hub for congresses

Prague ranks among the top 10 most desirable cities for congresses and conferences globally, as reported by the International Congress Association (ICCA). In 2023, the city hosted nearly 5,000 professional events, attracting close to 700,000 attendees.

The Prague Convention Bureau highlights a 54% increase in foreign congresses from 2023 to 2024, with topics spanning medicine, business, and technology. The city’s appeal lies in its rich cultural heritage, central European location with connections to 170 destinations, and its compact, walkable layout complemented by excellent public transport.

Prague boasts two major convention centers: the Prague Congress Center and O2 Universum, accommodating up to 10,000 attendees with a combined exhibition space of 13,000 square meters. While plans to expand these facilities are underway, they already position Prague as a prime congress hub.

Targeting high-net-worth congress delegates, who spend significantly more than average tourists, Prague strategically schedules events in spring and autumn to balance tourism flows. These events contribute up to 10 billion CZK annually to public budgets, alongside fostering knowledge exchange and social benefits.

Prague remains a leader in Czechia and ranks sixth globally, outpacing major cities like Madrid, London, and Tokyo in attracting international congresses.
