Household spending and investments kept Czech economy growing, despite weaker foreign trade.
The Czech economy expanded slightly in the first quarter of 2026, with GDP rising by 0.2 % compared to the previous quarter and 2.1 % year-on-year. According to the Czech Statistical Office, growth was mainly supported by stronger domestic demand, especially household consumption and investment activity, while foreign trade negatively affected overall performance. Employment levels remained stable quarter-to-quarter and increased slightly compared to last year.
