The Czech Republic plans to distribute €2 million to support startups in developing smart city innovations.
The Czech Republic is positioning itself as a regional leader in smart city technologies, announcing a €2 million support programme for innovative startups. The initiative was introduced at URBIS – The Smart Cities Meetup in Brno, co-organised by CzechTrade, CzechInvest, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and other partners. The event attracted over 5,000 visitors and more than 600 representatives from municipalities. Funding will be allocated to pilot projects focused on AI-driven traffic systems, shared mobility services, digital municipal communication tools, and sustainable energy solutions. Notable Czech innovations showcased include electric vehicle sharing in Touškov and AI-controlled intersections in Brno, developed by startups like Peoplecar and Vision Craft. By reducing the adoption risks for local governments, the programme encourages cooperation between public institutions and tech entrepreneurs.
This strategic support highlights the Czech Republic’s ambition to export smart technologies and strengthen its presence in the global smart cities market.
