Novo Nordisk has officially launched production at its new manufacturing facility in Bohumil, Central Bohemia, where it will produce proteins and other key components for next-generation medicines used to treat diabetes and obesity. The company has invested more than CZK 8 billion in the site, modernising the existing facility with state-of-the-art production technologies, digital infrastructure and quality systems.

The facility currently employs around 300 people and will initially support clinical production before gradually expanding to commercial manufacturing. The investment builds on the Czech Republic’s long-standing pharmaceutical tradition and highlights the country's skilled workforce and strong industrial base.

For the Czech Republic, the project represents far more than a major foreign investment. It reinforces the country's growing role in advanced pharmaceutical and biotechnology manufacturing, supports highly skilled employment, encourages technology transfer and innovation, and contributes to strengthening Europe's pharmaceutical supply chain. Novo Nordisk's decision to expand its operations in the Czech Republic is another strong signal of international confidence in the country's business environment and manufacturing capabilities
