Research and Testing Institute Pilsen Ltd. (VZÚ Plzeň) continues the more than 119-year tradition of research, development and innovation of the Škoda engineering company, until 2011 it was known as ŠKODA VÝZKUM s.r.o.

The main services provided include research and development of advanced industrial coatings applied through a combination of hot spraying and heat treatment technologies, comprehensive material diagnostics and accreditied testing in the field of fatigue and vibration resistance, advanced data science combined with strength and thermodynamic calculations and other specific material-oriented services. The company operates testing and calibration laboratories accredited to EN ISO/IEC 17025, and its quality management system is certified to the requirements of the aerospace industry standard AS 9100 as well as EN ISO 9001. From April 1, 2026, VZÚ Plzeň is part of the Řež Research Center owed by Nuclar Research Institute. It focuses on the energy sector, vehicle manufacturing, precision engineering and aerospace.
