The American semiconductor manufacturer onsemi is planning to build a silicon carbide (SiC) fabrication plant in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm, investing billions of Czech crowns.
The U.S.-based company onsemi has announced plans to establish production of silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductor chips in the Czech Republic, specifically in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm. Part of the investment has already received support from the European Commission, which approved funding of approximately EUR 450 million.
The new facility will produce components for electric vehicles, fast-charging stations, and other renewable-energy applications. The total investment is estimated at around EUR 1.6 billion.
The project brings significant business opportunities for Czech suppliers of machinery, components, and service solutions, who can become part of the American company’s supply chain.
