PBS Aerospace from the Czech Republic opened a new headquarters and production plant in Roswell, Georgia, to scale turbojet engine manufacturing for U.S. aerospace and defense customers.
PBS Aerospace, part of the Czech industrial group PBS, has inaugurated a new U.S. headquarters and manufacturing facility in Roswell, Georgia. The investment reflects the company’s strategy to serve the fast-growing American market for small turbojet engines used in drones, missiles, and other unmanned aircraft. By setting up operations on U.S. soil, PBS aims to shorten supply chains, accelerate delivery times, and strengthen relationships with defense and aerospace partners.
The Roswell site will produce advanced turbojet engines such as the TJ40 and TJ80, which deliver around 100 and 200 pounds of thrust, respectively. Initial staffing is about 45 employees, with plans to expand to roughly 100 as production ramps up. PBS expects to manufacture several thousand engines annually by 2026, positioning itself as a key supplier for U.S. defense programs and commercial aerospace customers.
The new facility includes assembly and testing capabilities, while some specialized components, like precision-cast turbine blades, will continue to be sourced or manufactured in the Czech Republic. PBS is also considering further investments, estimated at up to $90 million, to expand production capacity and establish a stronger U.S. supply chain over the coming years.
This move underscores the global realignment of aerospace manufacturing amid rising demand for unmanned systems and heightened geopolitical tensions. By anchoring production in the United States, PBS Aerospace not only strengthens its competitive position but also supports job creation and technology transfer in Georgia’s growing aerospace sector.
