Czech Defence Industry Could Support U.S. Production Capacity

U.S. technology transfers could open new opportunities for Czech defence manufacturers to support allied production capacity and strengthen transatlantic industrial cooperation.

Potential technology transfer from the United States could enable Czech companies to manufacture selected defence products and help address capacity shortages in the U.S. defence industry.

Czech Foreign Minister Petr Macinka said during a visit to Washington that the United States may be willing to share technology and production know-how with Czech companies for the manufacture of certain U.S. weapons systems. The aim would be to involve the Czech defence industry in expanding American production capacity.

The discussion followed Macinka’s meeting with Andrew Baker, national security adviser to U.S. Vice President J. D. Vance. According to Macinka, the opportunity could fall under the America First Arms Transfer Strategy, through which the United States identifies allied countries that could support its defence-industrial base. No specific companies, technologies or projects were announced.
