Earlier this month, Czech President Petr Pavel and his wife,
Eva, engaged with around 90 representatives from a diverse array of innovative
startups and inspirational Czech companies. The meeting aimed to support and
understand the needs of these emerging businesses to further advance the
country's entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The array of companies present was truly diverse, including a circular clothing
brand, a manufacturer of vegan leather made out of apples, a designer of
made-to-measure 3D-printed bike seats, and a producer of medical devices, among others.
In addition, the President and his wife dedicated part of the afternoon to
interacting with representatives from regional innovation centers and business
incubators across Czechia, all of which foster groundbreaking ideas and
projects.
An analysis by StartupJobs and the investment firm J&T reveals that in
2022, startups employed over 150,000 people in the Czech Republic, representing
about four percent of the national workforce. Over the past four years, the
number of startups and their employees has surged by 35 percent. On average,
420 new startups are established annually in the Czech Republic. Notably, 55
percent of these are software companies, with most being micro-firms consisting
of up to ten employees.
