Czechoslovak Group Enters U.S. Defense Market with Major Ammunition Deal

Czechoslovak Group has entered the U.S. defense market with a major contract to produce NATO-standard artillery shells. Through its American subsidiary, the company will build a new facility in Iowa and lead a key project under the U.S. Army’s modernisation initiative, marking a significant step in its global expansion.

Czechoslovak Group (CSG) is making a strong move into the U.S. defense industry through its American branch, MSM North America. The company has signed a major contract with the U.S. Department of Defense to produce 155mm artillery shells—standard NATO ammunition. As part of the deal, CSG will build a new production facility at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, marking its first direct partnership with the U.S. military.

The contract, worth up to $635 million, includes the monthly delivery of 36,000 shells, totalling 432,000 per year. This initiative is part of the U.S. Army’s Future Artillery Complex program, which aims to modernise and boost the country’s ammunition production. MSM North America, headquartered in Florida and established earlier this year, will oversee the project and coordinate eight U.S.-based subcontractors. The facility will be owned by the government but operated by private industry, with MSM North America serving as the lead contractor.

CSG is rapidly expanding its global presence, with operations across Europe and recent acquisitions in the United States. Its focus on both large- and small-calibre ammunition has positioned it among the top producers worldwide. Ammunition remains the backbone of CSG’s business, driving strong financial performance and growth. In 2024, the company reported significant increases in both revenue and profit, reflecting its strategic investments and rising demand across NATO countries.
