On May 15, 2024, sixteen Czech and Slovak faculties specializing in electrical engineering and IT founded the Alliance for Electrical Engineering and Informatics.
Led by Zdeněk Peroutka, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of West Bohemia, the Alliance aims to boost secondary school students' interest in these fields and coordinate strategic research projects to address the shortage of over 10,000 professionals in these critical areas.
The Alliance intends to foster collaboration between academia and industry, ensuring the development of a skilled workforce essential for economic and industrial growth. It also aims to attract new investors to the Czech Republic and Slovakia by leveraging the modern equipment and resources of its member faculties. This collaborative effort is expected to enhance technological transfer and create high-quality jobs.
Key figures like Vladimír Kutiš, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics at the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava, emphasize the importance of adapting to rapid technological changes and meeting industry demands. The Alliance will act as a communication bridge between universities, industry partners, and government ministries, advocating for the advancement of education, research, and innovation in electrical engineering and IT fields.
