Tourism to Czechia Continues to Grow, With Strong Interest From U.S. Travelers

New data published by the Czech Statistical Office show that tourism in Czechia continued to recover and grow in the first quarter of 2026. According to the latest figures, more than 2.1 million foreign tourists stayed in Czech accommodation facilities during the quarter, representing a year-over-year increase of nearly 6%.

Among long-haul markets, the United States remained one of Czechia’s most important overseas tourism sources. More than 73,000 American visitors traveled to Czechia in the first quarter of 2026, making the U.S. the seventh-largest source market for foreign guests overall. The number of American visitors increased by more than 10% year-over-year, highlighting sustained U.S. interest in the Czech market and continued recovery in transatlantic travel.

Germany, Poland, and Slovakia remained the largest inbound tourism markets overall, reflecting Czechia’s strong regional connectivity within Europe. However, the continued growth of U.S. tourism is particularly significant for the country’s hospitality, aviation, and premium travel sectors, as American visitors typically stay longer and spend more per trip than many regional travelers.

The latest figures also underline Czechia’s growing appeal as a destination combining historic cities, cultural tourism, business travel, and increasingly popular wellness and outdoor experiences. For U.S. travelers, Prague continues to serve as the primary gateway, but regional destinations across the country are also seeing increasing international interest.
