U.S. company AJA Video Systems to acquire Czech video software firm Comprimato

U.S.-based AJA Video Systems has entered into an agreement to acquire Czech company Comprimato, a specialist in high-performance video encoding and processing software. The transaction highlights continued U.S. interest in advanced European software capabilities, particularly in media technology and cloud-based production.

Founded in Brno, Comprimato develops GPU-accelerated solutions for live video encoding, transcoding, and standards conversion, widely used in broadcast and streaming workflows. Its software supports a range of modern codecs and is designed for virtualized, cloud, and hybrid environments, serving broadcasters, media companies, and other demanding users worldwide.

Through the acquisition, AJA plans to integrate Comprimato’s software portfolio into its BRIDGE LIVE ecosystem of IP video streaming solutions. The combined development teams are expected to accelerate innovation in live production and streaming, improving workflow efficiency and enabling new monetization opportunities for customers as demand for high-quality video content continues to grow.

Following the closing of the deal, Comprimato will continue to operate as a separate brand within AJA and retain its European offices. The entire leadership and engineering team, including CEO and co-founder Jiří Matela, will join AJA. Financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

The acquisition underscores the global competitiveness of Czech deep-tech companies and their strong positioning in the U.S. market, particularly in areas such as media infrastructure, cloud computing, and high-performance software development.
