Thermo Fisher Scientific is expanding its branch in Brno, Czech Republic.
The new facility should have 60,000 square meters and should have capacity for around 2,200 employees with 35 % of the capacity dedicated to research and development. The facility should be ready in the second half of 2026 and the project will double the R&D capabilities of Thermo Fisher in the Czech Republic.
The company has been operating in Brno for over 30 years and is one of the biggest producers of electron microscopy. The investment from Thermo Fisher is supported by the city and the South Moravian region which i sone of the most successful regions in connecting science and research with the industry. Specifically in microscopy, this cooperation is shown also in third of world’s production of electron microscopy being done in the region, apart from Thermo Fisher there is also a Czech companies Tescan (now a big global player as well) or Delong Instruments.
