Czech AI gigafactory could be built in Prague

České Radiokomunikace, Czech provider of television, radio and internet infrastructure, is applying for inclusion in the European AI gigafactory project.

The company plans to build one of the largest European data centres for artificial intelligence in Prague-Zbraslav. The construction is to take place on their own land, where they are already preparing a data centre called Prague Gateway DC. The project has the ambition to become one of the largest and most modern centres in the region.

The project is part of a wider European Union initiative called AI Continent, which aims to strengthen Europe's competitiveness in the field of artificial intelligence. The EU plans to build five so-called AI gigafactories and several smaller centres, with up to €20 billion earmarked for the purpose. Most of the costs are to be covered by private investors, with individual projects competing for support from European funds.
