Sunny Canadian International School, inspired by the Canadian education system, is set to expand with a state-of-the-art laboratory building.
Alice Stunda founded Sunny Canadian International School in 2002 after spending time in Canada. Her goal was to bring the values and methods of Canadian education to the Czech Republic, initially for her daughter. What began as a kindergarten has since evolved into a bilingual institution encompassing elementary and high school levels, now serving 650 students. The school emphasizes English proficiency, preparing students for global success. Graduates achieve a C2 level of English (proficient) and participate in various programs, such as the European Youth Parliament. In 2013, Ms. Stunda was recognized as Entrepreneur of the Year for her commitment to providing high-quality and inspiring education for Czech children.
Currently, the school plans to further expand with the construction of the Maple Building, a facility inspired by the shape of a maple leaf. The new building will feature cutting-edge laboratories, a robotics workshop, a showroom, an arts atelier, quiet study spaces, and outdoor classrooms. The aim is to foster the integration of theory and practice across science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM). Additionally, the complex will include a multifunctional hall designed for cultural events, presentations, and workshops. The Maple Building is expected to open at the start of the 2026/2027 school year.
