The 6th session of the Czech–South African Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation brought together representatives of both countries to discuss opportunities for deeper collaboration across a wide range of sectors. The discussions highlighted cooperation in trade and investment, mining, energy, transport, defence, healthcare, science, research and innovation.

Particular attention was given to modern technologies, critical raw materials and the energy transition – areas offering significant potential for future partnerships between Czech and South African companies.

The meeting also underlined the importance of translating institutional cooperation into concrete business opportunities. Czech companies have strong expertise in technologies and solutions that can contribute to South Africa’s industrial and economic development, while the South African market offers opportunities for Czech companies looking to expand internationally.

Building on this momentum, CzechBusiness, together with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Pretoria and its partners, is preparing further activities to support Czech companies entering the South African market.

One of the key upcoming opportunities will be the participation of Czech companies at Mining Indaba in Cape Town in February 2027, the leading global mining event on the African continent. The initiative aims to connect Czech technology providers with South African and international mining companies and institutions and identify opportunities for long-term cooperation.

The growing economic relationship between the Czech Republic and South Africa demonstrates that there is strong potential to move beyond traditional trade towards new partnerships, investments and joint projects in strategic sectors.
