Czech manufacturer Robe Lighting Consolidates Australian Distribution with LSC Control Systems

Robe Lighting restructures its ANZ distribution, shifting theatrical and live-event products to newly acquired LSC Control Systems, while continuing its architectural lighting partnership with Jands. What’s behind the move—and what it means for the industry?

Czech-based lighting manufacturer Robe Lighting has announced a major shift in its distribution strategy for the Australian and New Zealand markets. From 1 July 2025, the company’s entertainment and event lighting products will be exclusively distributed through LSC Control Systems, following a mutual agreement with long-time partner Jands.

The decision comes in the wake of Robe’s 2024 acquisition of Melbourne-based LSC, a leading provider of power management solutions. This strategic move builds on Robe’s global consolidation efforts, which also included the 2023 acquisition of UK-based lighting control and media server company Avolites. LSC was subsequently appointed as Avolites’ regional distributor.

While Robe's theatrical, concert, and rental market products will transition to LSC, Jands will continue representing Robe’s architectural lighting brand, Anolis, across the region.

Robe CEO Josef Valchar said the change reflects a broader strategic vision: “It made strategic, logical and practical sense for us to consolidate distribution of all Robe’s rental, staging, theatrical and music-oriented business into the one company that we own, aligning harmoniously with our global operations.”

Valchar also praised Jands and its Executive Chairman Paul Mulholland for their longstanding partnership, which began in 2017. “Mutual respect has been central to this relationship. We are both very happy to continue working together through Anolis and other ventures.”

Mulholland described representing Robe as an “honour,” noting the company’s impressive innovation and growth under Valchar’s leadership. He called the transition a “smart move” that allows Robe greater control of its brand presence in Australasia.

Both parties affirmed their commitment to ongoing collaboration through Anolis and other potential joint initiatives in the future.
