Marlenka celebrates record year: highest sales and double profit

Honey cake maker Marlenka international has had an extremely successful year

The company from Frýdek-Místek achieved the highest ever sales of CZK 836.1 million, an increase of almost one fifth year-on-year. The company's net profit more than doubled from CZK 78.2 million to CZK 162.4 million. Despite challenges such as rising energy and raw material prices, high inflation and a strong krona, Marlenka views 2023 as an exceptionally successful year.

Last year, Marlenka exported its products to 46 countries worldwide, with foreign markets accounting for 72% of its turnover. Destinations included not only European countries, but also North America, Asia and Australia. Although the strong czech crown increased prices for foreign partners, the quality of the products ensured that sales were maintained and even increased. In the domestic market, the company maintained its upward trend.

The year 2023 was also a year of production expansion. Marlenka produced over 10.8 million products, a 9% increase year-on-year. Cakes, Balls, Snacks, Cupcakes and Napoleons were the most successful, with sales up 28.9%. Gluten-free products also found a growing customer base, with sales of gluten-free cakes, for example, up 37%.

In addition, the company introduced new products such as Coffee Balls and DeLuxe Balls and invested in upgrading its production line. The newly created cake decorating station allowed the company to expand its product range.

Marlenka is responding to growing demand by expanding its production capacity. Last year, it bought the former Lemberger textile factory in Frýdek-Místek at auction. It plans not only to increase production there, but also to build a museum and restore the historical park. Investments in the reconstruction of the site should amount to between CZK 2.5 and 3 billion.

Today, the company employs an average of 340 people, which is 39 more than in 2022. Marlenka has become synonymous with quality honey cakes and has consolidated its place among the leading Czech food exporters.

Thanks to its focus on quality, innovation and a strong strategy, Marlenka was able to overcome economic challenges and celebrate one of the best years in its history.
