Aero Vodochody has completed deliveries of the first batch of L-39NGs to the Vietnam People's Air Force (VPAF). The Vietnamese People's Air Force is gradually receiving a total of 12 aircraft. Deliveries are expected to be completed by the end of this year.

The L-39NG is a new generation of the L39 training aircraft and can also fulfill the role of a light fighter. The avionics of the aircraft are prepared for training future pilots of fourth and fifth-generation aircraft.

"Thanks to already signed contracts, we have practically filled our production capacity until 2025, and interest in our training aircraft is increasing," said Filip Kulštrunk, Vice President for Trade and Marketing of Aero Vodochody, adding: "Compared to competitors from Italy, South Korea, or the USA, L-39NG is a very cost-effective and, above all, long-term reliable solution for modern air forces."

New aircraft from the Czech manufacturer have already been ordered by countries such as Hungary, Vietnam, and Ghana. The Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic will purchase four aircraft for the Aviation Training Center in Pardubice, with an option for an additional four.

According to the manufacturer, the aircraft, whose price is estimated at 10 million US dollars, stands out compared to more powerful training aircraft such as the M-346 or Yak-130 with low operating costs and long range. Its main advantages include a completely redesigned aircraft design in line with modern technologies (such as the use of composite parts, wet wing, central point fueling, etc.) and a highly reliable FJ44-4M engine.
