Czech Ministry Promotes Digital Transformation for SMEs

The Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade has launched a call for proposals to boost the digital capabilities of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through the "Digital Business – Technology 4.0 - Challenge I" initiative. This program encourages SMEs to invest in advanced technologies, robotics, automation, and digitalization to enhance their competitiveness in the evolving digital economy. The support ranges from 30 % to 60 % of eligible project expenses, and applications are accepted from November 22, 2023, to February 15, 2024.

Ministry of Industry and Trade (MPO) has initiated a call for proposals to support the digital advancement of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within the Operational Programme for Technology and Applications for Competitiveness (OP TAK). Entrepreneurs can submit their applications from 22 November 2023 to 15 February 2024.

This initiative empowers businesses to leverage the rapidly evolving digital economy and enhance competitiveness. The focus is investing in advanced technologies, robotics, automation, and digital transformation. The call falls under specific goal 1.2, "Harnessing the Benefits of Digitalization for Citizens, Businesses, Research Organizations, and Public Authorities."

In response to the shift of operational expenses into the digital realm, the Ministry of Industry and Trade introduced the "Digital Business – Technology 4.0 - Challenge I" to build on established support methods. This program extends and evolves previous challenges such as "Digital Business" and "Virtual Business." Digitalizing business processes has become essential for staying competitive in today's digital age. The "Digital Business – Technology 4.0" call targets comprehensive projects involving most or all internal business processes. Small and medium-sized businesses can apply for support, with phased project implementation concluding by 30 June 2026. The support level ranges from 30 % to 60 % of eligible project expenses based on business size and regional support criteria. The call's configuration and parameters were developed in consultation with economic and social partners.

Interested parties can contact the Agency for Business and Innovation, the intermediary for OP TAK, which assists with grant applications and project administration. The agency operates a helpline at + 420 800 800 777 and is accessible across all regions of the country.
